Dear Professor,

Dear sugarplum fairy,

Above everything else, I’d rather just be an artist. I would remain a tad beyond happy even if it meant I was to live in a grubby, tiny, horribly furnished flat. The nine-to-five life goes on and on in a depressing, repetitive fashion. Though i’ve always somehow wanted to be in the books industry and is doing exactly that right now, I cannot appreciate the uninspiring days it brings with it. To date, its been half a year. I truly enjoy the diversity within the premises of my office. I meet people from all over the world, though not necessarily from all walks of life: Japanese to Koreans to Americans to Dutchs and every other else. That in itself, brings a species of hope to continuously learn and be lifted off the too ordinary, too dull days.

I caught up with my lecturer two weeks ago on the six o’clock bus that takes me to school from my office. He congratulated me on the distinction that I got for his class and went on to ask what I’d like to do in the not-too-distant future. I spoke to him about my growing interest in Arts and in Feminist studies. Possibly also, along the lines of philosophy, communication and sociology. I said to him, that if I had to be effectively insane, I would have went on to be a self-proclaimed theorist. We laughed at that instance. He said that those were very rare and bold choices. Most shockingly, he encouraged me to pursue them. Of course, he was the identical of Morrie Schwartz except, we don’t have Tuesdays together and I am not brainy enough to take up those subjects and ace them.

Its not that I am unmotivated and afraid. But should I be selfish enough to pursue these wants, then my life outside of these difficult ambitions would have to take the back seat. You must posess commitment in perplexing proportions and you’ve got to have balls of intelligence. I don’t have either. Besides, cultural revolutions have become and should remain history. On the other hand, modern day revolunists should all spare themselves from stirring any more controversies. Haven’t you heard? People are eating shit and having sex all at the same time. And that’s already a big hit now, no? Society’s morals have declined sufficiently that everything is a-okay by now.

So i should just forget it.

Anyway, I will repel from those ideas and continue with Plan A. Taking a double degree outside of this country is already a financial headache. I should as well forget my over-ambitious fantasies.

Till next time, lovely readers. I hope everyone enjoyed their St. Patrick’s Day!
