‘Event-full’ December

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Dear sugarplum fairy,

Quick touch on last week:

What a rush of events!

My cousin, at 21, is happily married. Oh what bliss! Last weekend i stood watching her being photographed over and over again. And with each snap of the camera, she stepped closer to leaving The Ahmad’s for a family of her own and to be part of her husband’s. I had tears in my eyes, it was so heartfelt!

The pre-wedding night, my mother’s huge (and expanding) family of 16 gathered to help out with the wedding decorations, the food, the finishing bits of the dais, her henna and i, being the young one, helped out with the little ‘thank you’/ door gifts in the wee hours of the morning.

So at 2am, where everyone was just too exhausted and intensively trying to get all things straightened up and settled just so to leave for home and get rest, there i was telling my aunts how i was hungry and wanted to run down to get supper from macdonald’s but had only 7bucks, trying to make jokes, broke a glass and took pictures! Hahaha! What a nuisance!

Yas’s graduation show was a success. The exhibition was impressive and i was just beaming proud to see his works being displayed. For the occasion, I brushed my hair and settled on a preppy mix of clothes, bagged me a Christian Dior and sprayed on my favourite perfume. I rushed to buy some perky fresh flowers for the graduating girls and congratulated the guys. Speaking of some serious enthusiasm!

I neglected my christmas list only to realise i had less than a week to shop. Chrystelle was leaving for Perth that Friday and it sure as hell gave me a reason to sit myself down and run through the list again. I fixed the mess and Christmas sailed nice and smooth.

Leo’s wedding at Pan Pacific was too sweet. I sat at table 5, starry-eyed and couldn’t stop saying "awww". The food was awesome and everyone looked stunning. I slipped on my best dress and had a ball of a time. And so everyone’s getting married.

Is it me or is it mating season? I mean, wedding season.

Dear sugarplum fairy,

My favourite bit from Romeo & Juliet:

"Let me be ta’en; Let me be put to death.

I am content, so thou wilt have it so.

I’ll say you grey is not the morning’s eye.

I have more care to stay than will to go;

-Come death, and welcome; Juliet wills it so"

-Romeo; Romeo & Juliet

Young is starving to/for love, Young is foolish;

Young is foolish when in love; So foolishly in love;

I am young, foolish and in love.

The Sally’s- Lady Marmalade Video

Lady Marmalade?

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Dear sugarplum fairy,

2mrimo9_3

From the music video’s poster, you can probably already tell what’s happened to me. Interesting, ain’t it? Filming the video wasn’t exactly anything of the norm. It was crazy fun, professional and plus we’ve decided to zest up the video with the exclusive scene of me ‘making out’ with Izwan, yes him, a bestfriend. How odd, how so very odd.

Here’s how the band approached me (excerpt of msn conversation):

Shafiq: Did izwan tell you about the video?

Me: Yea, i get the idea. But whats the song all about? As in why that theme?

Shafiq: Because its about a prostitute.

Me: Eh buto! Hahahaha! THANKS AR FIQ. THANKS AR EH.

I love my friends, i do.

It seemed like only yesterday, back in high school, where they performed for teachers and students skanking in uniforms. Swanky.

And so currently, they’ve gotten professional gigs, radio interviews, a new hit which is also the video: Lady Marmalade and so much more musical substance.

To Shafiq Iskandar, who filmed and directed, what sick creativity and talent. You know you stuff, my dear ‘Shafiq Gelek’. Its been fun. Thanks for the experience and the feeling of what shooting porno would be like in a cemetery. Hah!

Wrapping up: as ironic as it sounds, i’m glad i’ve agreed to be the ‘whore’ of the song. Thanks again to them. But all in all, it was about the crazy friendship we all had since way back. Why would i turn them down? The whore’s proud of you guys. Much love.

Meet the band!- The Sally’s (take a listen to Lady Marmalade!)

Meet the director/vocalist- Shafiq (also check out his amazing work: A-Life 04:48)

Meet them live!- @ DXO; 19th Dec (if you want skanking drunk fun)

P.s If otherwise, you can join me in my quest to get high on Evian. May many strange men grind your buttocks. Amen!

Ooh and yes, Zoukout was insanely fun.
